Obscure Glass
 |
Obscure glass gets its name from the ability to screen
out, or obscure, visibility through the glass while letting light come
through. A typical obscure glass application would be a bathroom or shower
where privacy is desired.
Obscure or pattern glass is formed from a pattern on a roller so that a
repetitive design is pressed into the glass during the rolled glass
process. The degree of diffusion is dependent on the depth and density of
the pattern.
|
Benefits of Obscure Glass
- Adds privacy where window coverings are impractical or undesirable
(bathrooms, sidelites)
- Various texture patterns provide a translucent or semi-opaque effect.
- Obscure glass may be tempered.
